Secret of the Sea is a delightful tale that follows Abeni, a curious and adventurous young girl from Makoko, Nigeria. She loves spending her days at the beach, building sandcastles and searching for shiny seashells. One day, Abeni discovers something extraordinary sparkling in the sand. Little does she know, this magical treasure comes from a hidden world of merfolk and will lead her on an incredible adventure. Filled with wonder, courage, and new friendships, this is an exciting tale for all ages to enjoy.
About the author
Tiffany Patrick-Isicheli is a Nigerian designer whose work blends experimental representation methods with deeply personal narratives. Currently studying at Emily Carr University, Tiffany draws inspiration from her experiences as a Black female immigrant. She explores themes related to the African Diaspora and challenging systems not built for voices like hers. Through bold, authentic, sometimes whimsical designs, she centers Black characters and stories in spaces where they are often underrepresented. By weaving in elements of Yoruba and other African languages, Tiffany’s work resonates with the rich cultural heritage of her homeland, Lagos, creating a powerful dialogue between past and present.
