Dream Catching
Shayne Hommy
About the book
A book that explores dream catchers as an object & the deeper spiritual meaning behind them. I created this book as a way to ‘reclaim’ the dreamcatcher because over the course of time it has been heavily appropriated and only seen as a cultural stereotype. The topic further expands on the idea of dreams + dreaming as a separate ‘realm’ bridging worlds, how it can be a method for our lost loved ones to communicate and visit with us.
About the author
Shayne Hommy is a multidisciplinary artist and designer from Northern BC. She is currently attending Emily Carr University in order to further expand her skillset. The core of her practice is discovery, constantly seeking new ways to create and learning from those experiences. Her Indigenous background greatly influences her design, which often holds themes of connection, identity, grief, and uncertainty. She is particularly interested in publication and editorial design, but aspires to try a little bit of everything.
