About the book
Fishnets is an interview novel spotlighting the drag scene of my hometown, Saskatoon Saskatchewan. There is a story in every niche, subculture or pocket of society and I believe the Saskatoon drag community is one of deep complexity, hard work and radical self-expression. I've been captivated by drag since before I was old enough to enter a bar. From watching my best friend, Sammy on his drag journey to experimenting with queer expression myself, I have found an unabashed sense of community and pride thanks to the local queens and kings of YXE.
About the author
Gwen Halsted is a designer from Saskatoon SK living in Vancouver BC. She explores many facets of art and design but has a particular interest in zine-making, small publishing, queer topics and silly things. She strives to try everything! From product photography to printmaking: “I find it all very relevant to my work.”
